There is a wide range of rolls for Bonus Damage - 40-80%, but at least the Runes are so common and easy to find that you can afford some rerolls to get this right. And all the various damage modifiers and Elemental damage all apply to normal attacks as well, including Kicks. It just won't apply to the weapon because you need to be dual-wielding Claws to use Weapon Block. This isn't likely to have a ton of longevity for Assassins, but remade in a higher base item and used as an offhand Claw could be a good defensive move for a dual-wielding Assassin.Īssassins who use only one Claw and a shield, such as Kicksins or Trapsins, can still have the Block Rate apply to their shield. An Assassin can have either one or two Pattern claws for 30-60% Faster Block Rate. Other than the armor, there was no way for dual-claw Assassins to increase their Block Rate, until now. Up until Pattern, all items with Faster Block Rate were only available on Shields and one piece of Chest Armor - the Unique Guardian Angel Templar coat. What's really interesting about Weapon Block is that it blocks not only Physical attacks, but also nearly all Elemental attacks in both PvM and PvP. The Martial Arts skill Weapon Block allows dual-claw-wielding Assassins a chance to block with their Claws, which gives them a defensive ability because they cannot wield a Shield for blocking. What really makes this Runeword stand out is the Faster Block Rate directly on the Claws. There are a few other Runewords that can be used in Claws, but none that are quite as well tailored to Assassins, and the ones in this level range (Malice and Strength) are much weaker than Pattern. As a Claw-only Runeword, Pattern is clearly directed solely at Assassins.
